Denise Van Outen will host Channel 4’s show about Britain’s obsession with the mid-aisle at Lidl and Aldi – here’s how to apply
Presented by Denise Van Outen, Secrets of the Middle Alley will delve into the retail phenomenon of the nation’s favorite supermarket aisle, where shoppers can stock up on gadgets, patio furniture, pajamas or pool inflatables, all at seemingly low prices.
Denise will dive into the secrets of the mid-aisle special buys and seasonal offers that draw shoppers through the doors of discount supermarkets every week, explaining why we’re so obsessed with the mid-aisle of supermarkets.
She’ll also look at how Lidl and Aldi get such deep discounts, and whether the random collection of items often found there is worth buying anyway.
“I’m a bit of a bargain hunter myself, so I’m really looking forward to finding out how these supermarket deals work and if they’re all they seem,” Denise commented.

Channel 4 Glasgow’s Daytime & Features Editor, Deborah Dunnett, added: ‘What I love about the Midway is the joy it brings to shoppers – across all social classes, everywhere United Kingdom. So of course we want to know the secrets of its success.
Both 60-minute programs will be produced for Channel 4 by Glasgow-based Firecrest Films.
Firecrest Films executive producer Nicole Kleeman said, “It’s an opportune time to explore how buyers are making their money work by getting mid-aisle discounts.
“We are delighted to be working with Denise Van Outen to explore how this modern retail icon is shaking up the British high street.”
