Drew Barrymore’s daytime talk show comes to life


A few years after a failed first attempt, Drew barrymore finally gets her own daytime talk show. Yes, that Drew Barrymore! Yes, that concept of daytime conversation! According to Variety, the Golden Globe winner will headline a daily show for CBS, which launches in fall 2020, making her the latest actress to take the creative turn in daytime territory.

“It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show,” Barrymore said in a statement, per Variety. “I am truly thrilled and honored to create this show with CBS.”

“Drew is a big star and a breath of fresh air – his show will energize the programming of any station,” said Steve LoCascio, COO and CFO of CBS Global Distribution Group. “We look forward to working with Peter Dunn (President of CBS Television Stations) and the CBS Television Stations group to launch this premium show in fall 2020. ”

True Barrymore fans have known she’s been around this kind of gig for some time. In 2016, she was reportedly in talks to land a talk show, discussing a possible deal with Warner Bros. and Ellen degeneres‘s A very good production banner. Barrymore then got busy as the star of Netflix’s bloody series Santa Clarita diet, but now that the show is over, the talk show dream is alive again. Now she has to fight with Kelly clarkson to be the only true queen of the crossover. Just kidding, there is room for everyone! I’m joking, it’s daytime TV! It’s ruthless, baby.

In addition to occasional acting jobs, Barrymore runs a cosmetics business called Flower Beauty, a wine business called Barrymore Wines, and produces a host of shows and films, stemming from the culinary competition show. Knife fight to the next remake of Charlie’s Angels. His resume is full and in possession of some Goop-y essence. It’s still unclear how that plays out in a daytime presence… but everyone will probably agree that Barrymore has had a more fascinating life than most, which could make her perfect for the role of herself.
