Is Stephen ‘tWitch’ boss heading to his own daytime talk show?

Stephen “tWitch” Boss looks quite at home doling out advice and reviews to performers on So you think you can dance. Sure, he brings a long dance background and a history with the show to this role – but he’s honed other skills during his time as a backup host on The Ellen DeGeneres Showwhich recently ended after 19 seasons.

Boss spoke to TV Insider after taping last night’s “absolutely amazing” episode which all 12 contestants went on until next week. (What better way to celebrate SYTYCDit’s 300e slice?) “I met Ellen to do this show. I became the DJ on Ellen, and later I became a co-executive producer. Then I started hosting guests. This led to 38 guest shows. I’m not going to lie, I fell in love with it.

Given his experience at Ellen both behind and in front of the camera, wouldn’t Boss being the host of his own show be, well, “boss”? Agents have to make calls, right? “We’ll see. I don’t like to jinx things,” he hesitates, adding with a smile, “but we’re on the same page.

In the meantime, Boss is celebrating SYTYCDit’s 300e episode and his return after missing a few years due to COVID-19. “We needed it, he enthuses. “Dance has the power to heal, inspire and celebrate. I think tonight’s episode really showed that. Yes, it’s a competition, but we were celebrating the profession that we love so much.

The edited packages showed the judges getting to the point fairly quickly on whether a dancer was going home. However, Boss wants SYTYCD fans to know that the actual disappointments weren’t so abrupt. In the coming weeks, he says, the public will have more time to see how strongly the judges support the contestants.

“Here’s the problem,” Boss points out. “Jojo [Swisher] and I crossed [competition shows]. She’s been on Dancing with the stars, and I lived this spectacle. We would never say anything abruptly to the dancers now that we are sitting in a panel where we have to give updates on whether or not they are progressing. We always give encouragement and share things that dancers can take with them into the future.
